Thrift Store Art

Girls, in this crazy, mixed-up world there are a few things we can still count on. Step into any "art" area in any thrift store in the western hemisphere and you will see the following:

At least one print of moody early 20th century babes staring off into space. This one gets extra points for including a river and ducks.

Speaking of ducks, there will always be a framed print of something mallard-esque. Always.

And a cheesy poster of a child with a butterfly and wildflowers.

Wait! What the hell is that? And more to the point, who would hang it in their house?
By the way, I could do that yoga position if I wanted to, I just don't want to.

Too funny. I have yet to find an art treasure while thrifting. I sometimes find a decent frame or even a piece I actually have hung on my wall. But ya gotta kiss an awful lotta toads first!

It's so funny you posted this--I was at the thrift store the other day and was thinking how there's always a print of that Picasso drawing of the hand holding the flowers, and always one of those vintagey looking bouquets of flowers with a particular month listed underneath!

Great post! I have seen every one of these classic thrift store pictures. I don't want to do that pose either.
Happy Sunday to you!

Man, I'd hang that yoga painting in my house...simply because I know I'll never be able to do that! I can't even touch my toes from a standing position!

I never thought I would say this but I know who painted this, one Mrs. Karen Noles. She happens to be the sister-in-law to my boss!
