The Artistic Glory of Garbage

On our recent trip to Cart'M, we found out we had missed the party of the year that was held the night before. It's called the TRASH BASH. Lucky for us, the art show was still in place.

Here's some of what we saw...Keep in mind, all of this gorgeous stuff was made with poubelle...which is the French word for garbage and sounds a lot more elegant.

It's blue hour.

A fiesty Fido made from an enamel roasting pan, rusty tools and casters.

A huge, creepy, crawly arachnid.

Lovely assemblages made by a local artist...



and my favorite objet...a dress made from wire and blue & white tulle. Someone actually wore this fabulous frock the night before at the "TRASHION SHOW".

Now, that's an event I will never miss again.

Gnome Sweet Gnome

If you thought since the holidays were over, you would never see another repurposed tart tin, you were wrong. After all, St. Patrick's Day is right around the corner!

Dollar Store Upcycle

My friend Joan did a swell Dollar Store re-do for Valentine's Day earlier this year. When I found these frames at my local Dollar Store, I decided to follow Joan's lead and turn their lives around. The color left me cold, but that's why we love creamy white spray paint, right girls?

3 coats later.

Next, I searched through my drawers of random fabulous junk, grabbed my craft glue....

Et voila! A beachy themed frame....

And a gift for a new baby!

I made these ornaments from recycled Kodak film (remember film?) tins, vintage greeting cards and trim.

These little dioramas started out in life as metal tea strainers!

Recycled Garden Tools

I found these two creatures at an estate sale over the weekend. The guy running the sale told me that his dad made them out of garden tools about 40 years ago. They are quirky and charming and are already at home in our backyard. They have faces only a junk mother could love.
