We have raccoons living under the deck in our back yard. They're big and lumbering and mean. Sometimes we see them peering in back door plotting, we think, the demise of our beloved and not brilliant dog, Hazel.
I found this guy at a local thrift for 49 cents. But he doesn't worry me. He's so friendly!

I just had a raccoon that chewed the siding of my house. I have also had one pounce on my dog. Needless to say I despise them. You have a keeper there.
My parents used to feed the raccoons that lived in the greenspace behind their house. They would come up on the back deck and eat right at the window. They were cute to watch - especially the babies. They stopped after the racoons started using the roof as a poop toilet. Blech. I am sure your new toy has no habits like that and he was a good price!
Now girl...you know I'm partial to squirrels ,but that is one cute raccoon.
Can't wait 'til spring!

I am a new follower and must say I love this blog, the pics you post and all your vintage finds. I do not have a blog but am an addicted reader of junk/trash blogs!
I have also found some interesting blogs to read from your list.
Glad I found yours and have fun!

Is that a tablet of Viagra between his paws?
That is the only kind of racoon to have around. I am amazed, as far out and in the woods as we live, I've not seen one racoon in five years. Must be the bob cats that keep them away. Keep Hazel safe from those outside critters!!
