To clean or to junk? That is the question.

It was Saturday morning. The house was a disaster and 6 of my in-laws (including 2 year old twins) were coming to our house for a family party. I told Gail that I would not, under any circumstances, be joining her to go junking. But about 10 am, she called from a house on NE 52nd and whispered into the phone, "You better get over here!"
What was I supposed to do? Not go? Here's some of the booty I found...

Sweet Periwinkle wooden toy box. With sheep decals.

I ♥ old games. The Owl Puzzle-Peg is particularly fabulous.

A girl can never have enough sequined fruit. I have never seen a pumpkin before. It's very orange and very beautiful.

Big hot pink Scrapbook, pale pink address book and a bound Christmas list...all vintage, but never used.

Speaking of Christmas, I rescued these flocked deer from under a gigantic mountain of musty linens.

And finally, a trio of glittered Christmas trees.

Next post: Cafeteria dining for illiterates.

I imagine your guests were so mesmerized by the sequined pumpkin that any housekeeping deficiencies became an immediate non-issue.

you HAD to go. The jury decides in your favor. Hope the in-laws were as understanding.

You definitely made the right choice! Besides, your family came to see you, not your house. (That's what I keep telling myself, although with in-laws....one never knows, lol!)

Yup, a gal after my own heart--screw the cleaning, junking first! I'm sure your in-laws were ok with however your house looked, anyway.

I LOVE the sequined fruit! My grandma used to have some in a hanging basket by her kitchen window. I wish I had appreciated it more back then!

Junk over cleaning, always! Especially since 2 year old twins will undo hours of cleaning in mere minutes anyway!

Love the sequined pumpkin! I have a little collection of the fruit, but veggies are much harder to find. That guy is cool--he'd be neat at Halloween too!
