I have returned from the land where...

People love to live in communities behind elaborate gates...

When you put the hose into your gas tank, a disembodied taped voice comes out of a speaker saying: "Welcome to Shell, it's good to see you." Then they play a five minute video, because why in the world would you ever want a moment without some kind of stimulation?

You can sit by a fake waterfall (with plastic rocks!) while you get your gas pumped or your car washed.

And you can never,

ever,

ever,

make a U-turn.

Welcome back...from where ever? California? Must be tough on yard salers...to never be able to make U-turns! I cannot tell you how many I make while looking for those elusive little roads, and teeny tiny sale signs!! have a great week *elaine*

Where you in California??????? I am having a Vintage Christmas Monday blog party. Come by and join up. It is my first shot at being a blog party hostess. I am a pretty reclusive person to be a hostess. Yikes!

Don't come to the DC area; we have videos at the pumps too. It's like Entertainment Tonight light or (further out in Va.), NASCAR crap.

Let's see all your SoCal pix....

I could see where being distracted by a video while pumping gas is an accident just waiting to happen! I get sidetracked just from a radio...can you imagine?

Love this post... what a riot. But the weather, c'mon, too bad it's wasted on LA!

Well... can I say... I hate the fact that California has so many NO U-turn signs... but it wasn't always like that... hope the rest of your trip was pleasant... wish we could have gotten the lunch bunch together... another time... {{HUGS}} Michelle

Hey girl! You should come to Northern California, we do have U-turns, but we don't live behind gates or have movies at our gas stations. We're lucky if we even have a gas station.
