A Frenchy Giveaway

In honor of Vintage Thingies Thursday, over at Colorado Lady (thanks, Suzanne!), I want to show you my collection of vintage French water bottles.

I collected these when I lived in France many years ago. The bottles are provided to cafes and bistros by companies that produce Pastis liqueur. Pastis is a cloudy, yellowish syrup that gets diluted in water and sipped as an aperitif. It tastes like licorice. Although it's meant to be drunk before a meal...Beware! 40% alcohol + empty stomach = Yikes! I tasted it once, it just about knocked me off my bistro chair. Love the bottles though. I found these at flea markets and brocantes ~ the French version of a junk shop.

Here's the part where you come in. Would you like my Ricard bottle? The one up front and center here:

Oui?

All you have to do is join the fabulous babes (& Will!) of 'One Gal's Trashy Pals' over there on my sidebar.
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

Here's how: Click on the "Follow" badge. When the next window comes up, click on "Follow this blog" and decide if you want to be a private or public follower. Then please leave a comment to let me know you've joined up....That's it! On Wednesday 8/19, I'll draw one name from all the new members of 'One Gal's Trashy Pals'. If you are already one of OGTP, never fear; leave a comment on this post and I'll throw your name in the hat too.
Bonne Chance!

P.S. Just so you know, this particular bottle has lived in the following places: Paris, London, New York City, Laguna Beach, California, Wynnewood, Pennsylvania and Portland, Oregon.

OH My Gosh! Just the mention of 'Pastis' brings a smile to my face 8-).... my first encounter was after 'the running of the bulls in Nime' - oh, but that is another story in itself! A couple of bottles of that 'clear, innocent beverage' did follow me home... and I think one bottle is still in my cabinet! It would be SWEET for it to be joined by it's very own Native Water bottle!!!! (Do current 'Trashy Pals' get included, or is this for 'New Members Only'???

I was shocked to see I wasn't already a follower...that's usually one of the first things I do when I find a blog I love. Oops...my bad! I corrected THAT mistake tout de suite!
Have fun with this.

Nice collection of bottles. I love to look at these in antique malls. They made so many interesting shapes and colors back when.

Pastis sounds yummy! I love any alcohol that tastes like licorice. That just made me sound like a lush, didn't it? Love all of those bottles, and would love to win the Ricard bottle for my daughter, who had no room in her suitcase to bring any bottles home from France ;(
I'm now a follower too!

Interesting life your bottles have had. Maybe one wants to live on the East coast for a while? I signed on as a 'pal'! :)

How wonderful! You have now made the 'insightful' comment from a woman at our church to a friend's mom concerning me....I'm a Trashy Pal now. I wasn't trashy the month before my dad lost his job, but the next month, I was! Now it's official ;D

I took my mom to see the movie "Julie and Julia" a couple of days ago- and the very same bottle you are giving away is sitting at the table in Paris where Julia and her husband Paul are having dinner- it was cool to recognize it!
