For many moons, I have had a stash of vintage Christmas light reflectors. I have also had a stash of old buttons and single vintage clip-on earrings. Put the two together...and now I have a stash of fabulous and friendly floral brooches! Perfect for Mother's Day. My mom, Sallie, is getting the one with the faux orange fruit in the middle. Delicious!

Love on a windowsill
Something about this floral still life reminds me of France. My daughter brought me home a handpicked posy on a rainy afternoon. I put the fleurs in a polka dot juice glass and set the arrangement on the upstairs bathroom windowsill. I just loved the way the light looked and the view down into our garden.

Junk becomes useful....lesson # 1
At a recent estate sale, I found a perfect box full of perfect vintage notecards with perfect messages like: "Thoughts from My Rocking Chair", and "Time for a Coffee Break!". I made the edges of the notecards wavy (thank you, Fiskars) added some festive junk sale buttons, slapped them on colorful recycled card stock from Scrap and....Voila! Environmentally friendly and kitschy cards to send to your best friends who appreciate this sort of thing.

More Concrete
Greetings dear reader,
We have previously addressed my obsessive yet benign affection for anything crafted from concrete. http://onegalstrash.blogspot.com/2008/02/i-have-problem-chapter-1.html
I feel compelled to share with you another treasure in my neighborhood. This lovely gathering of happy souls is just the kind of thing that makes me happy to live and breathe. Apparently these folks have been parked in this yard for a very long time. A friend told me that during Mardi Gras, these guys are all decked out in green and purple beads and festive hats. I can hardly wait until Fat Tuesday!
