My friend Julia loves France, junk, collecting sea glass and anything chocolate. In short, we are twin daughters of different mothers. Julia is also an artist. For my birthday, she painted this gorgeous and delightful portrait of our Cockapoo, Hazel. Our cat, Frankie is there too...just to right of the lady's maid. The painting is based on the masterpiece Olympia by Edouard Manet. Mine is better.

The Best Thing About Olympia, Washington
We took our annual holiday trip to Olympia to visit Fun Junk. Well, the actual purpose of the trip is to see my husband's family, but my consolation prize is an excursion to Fun Junk. Here's how the shop looks this year...

Stop by and say hello to Nancy. And tell her that One Gal's Trash sent you!

Part 3 of the Vintage Christmas Junk Trilogy
Here's the final leg of the Fun Junk tour and I've saved the best for last!
Bottle brush trees and Santa's plaid trousers,
The keys to my heart,
Pile O' Pennants,
Just beautiful stuff,
Jingle Bells,
And the ultimate in holiday kitsch. I want to be buried with it clutched in my hands.
P.S. I'll be posting on vintage Christmas all month long. If you would like to join in the fun, become a follower over there on the sidebar!

Olympia and Hazel
The last time I posted about our cockapoo Hazel, she looked like this:
In the meantime, she got a very cropped hair do. In fact, she was shaved. She looked....naked. Something about her reminded me of this painting titled 'Olympia' by Edouard Manet.
So I decided to produce a photo shoot in order to replicate the masterpiece; including the pink flower placed just so on the side of Olympia's head. Hazel had other ideas...
