French Metal

Don't get me started on how much I had to pay to get this stuff back from Paris in an extra suitcase. The CEO of Air France could have put braces on all of his kids' teeth, if they did that sort of thing in France. I might be exaggerating a little, but as I've told you a thousand times, never let the facts get in the way of a story. Here are the goods, girls....

A little filigree basket, a copper mini gong with a profile of Pierre, golden Mary, and other bits and bobs, including a pearl necklace and a splendid sconce.  I bought the thing in the back on the right because I liked it.  Also, the price tag described it as an "object". I had to have it.

An expandable trivet, vintage lunch pail, gorgeous bough, an emerald bracelet from the 40's and a skeleton key to a French door. See if you can guess what the thing is with the red handles.  Hint: Despite appearances, you're more likely to find one in a kitchen than in a gynecologist's office.

A gorgeous bottle carrier found for me by my friend Julia. (She deserves her own post, which will follow shortly.) Oh! And this...Also a gift from Julia.

I think this will eventually be my headstone!

Did it feel like Christmas when you unpacked the suitcase?
Is that thingy called a spatzle or something like that. I know it's probably spelled wrong, but to quote you...never let a spelling error get in the way of a good question!

Great finds!!! I can totally relate to the outrageous cost of extra suitcases :( Weird thing is it's more expensive from Europe back than from here to Europe – shouldn't it at least be the same?!

And my guess is that red handled thing is a waffle iron :)

Oh some fabulous treasures there! I WANT THAT PARIS SIGN!! So scrumptious!

Love the emerald bracelet and the leaf thingie. We're going to Paris in August. Any good places you might suggest for such treasures?

So will the Paris headstone be pointing up or down?
