Ginormous Doors, Rooftops, Crashing Trains and Dancing Rats

OGT is back from Paris with pictures, stories and JUNK! Here's a little taste of what's to follow....

I have a thing about French doors. They are ornate. They are gorgeous. They are big. Bonus points for the life-sized statue on the balcony.

Ah...Paris!

I took this shot while I was on the Bateaux Mouches. Love how it looks like the metro train is about to smash into the Eiffel Tower!

A storefront in Les Halles. The shop, "Destruction des Animaux Nuisibles" (translation: Pest Control), not only has rats hanging in the window still in their traps, but has a sign boasting that the dead vermin date from the 1920's!  And look...the ones at the bottom are positioned to look like they are dancing...perhaps to "La Vie En Rose".  I'm just glad I spotted this window after I had my croissant aux amandes and cafe au lait!

Posts to follow...Paris flea markets, gardens, more doors & new friends I met...in French!

Destruction des Animaux Nuisibles, that is truly a FABULOUS store.....Americans would never let anything open like that. To bad.

Aurouze was the company that took care of most of the markets in Les Halles and later, the restaurants. There are fewer rats in the center of Paris, now that Les Halles is in Rungis but Aurouze have their work cut out with the cockroaches which are sometimes the size of rats. This being due to accidental importation of tropical roaches in fruit shipments from Africa and the Caribbean.

Oh your pictures are fab! I have a thing for fabulous doors, so I love, love, love that door and the statue above, as well as the passerby. The whole thing is perfect!

We were planning a trip to Paris this summer, but it doesn't look like it's going to happen. I'm dying to go!
