A Thursday Night Surprise

I was driving through the hood on Thursday evening when I saw the tell-tale signs of an estate sale. Cars parked all caddywompus along 15th Avenue, a bunch of malcontents blocking the sidewalk complaining about all the malcontents blocking the sidewalk. You know, the usual. Sure enough, it was indeed a sale...just a few minutes before it opened. I made a U-turn, brought Hazel the dog home and drove back, all in about 45 seconds. The sale was a little fancy pants for my taste, but I found a few goodies.

A couple of red oak farm chairs,

A fantastic olive green Smith Corona typewriter, a print of Lord Fauntleroy,

and 3 small French bowls. (You know how I love anything Frenchy.) The messages are: "Love transcends reason", "One is always 20 years old in some corner of the heart" and "Far from sight, close to my heart". Swoon.

Wonderful typewriter! I found an old Royal Quiet De Luxe last month and blogged about it. I love it!

G*A*S*P! My first reaction to the typewriter. I know have 2 (1 electric, 1 not but really because my son grabbed up the first one for his own) like it... both estate sale finds. The French bowls are precious.

Caddywompus...first time I hear this word, but it's a great sounding word, lol!

Love your finds.

An estate sale in the evening? Never heard of that! I wish they'd do that around here, so maybe I wouldn't run into the same old malcontents that I see at every single morning estate sale! Looooove that typewriter

And I'm incredibly jealous of your finds. I can totally see myself on one of those orange chairs, parked behind a wobbling table clanking away all hours of the night on that olive typewriter.

I love the shape & color of the farm chairs and I'm a sucker for anything French too! Will you be using the typewriter or just using it for display?

Those bowls are adorable but I love the typewriter! I miss using those and hearing the ding when you get to the end of the line!
