A Fabulous Bag of Nothing

Can you imagine NOT stopping at a thrift store that has a gigantic smiley face for a sign?

I didn't find much other than this leather bag. I like to think a physician carried it around while making house calls back in the day when physicians used to do that sort of thing.

This was my favorite part. Note that the price tag reads, not "Leather Bag" or "Vintage Bag", but "Empty Bag". Really, pricing people at St. Vincent De Paul's? Is that the best you can come up with?

That looks very similar to the briefcase that my Dad used over 40 years ago.

Love your vintage bag, it looks to be in great condition (when I find them they're beat up and battered).

Maybe they wanted to make it clear nothing came with the bag?

We have the same one. It's in my pile of junque to sell.We call it the Dr. Jones bag because it reminds us of Indiana Jones when he is in Professor mode.

That is EXACTLY like my father's "Flight Bag". He was an Air Force fighter pilot from 1944-1969 and carried it when he flew - it's part briefcase, part suitcase. So cool. Love your blog and happy to have found it.

Yep, I agree with the other comments re: the bag. I have the same one, although darker leather, that my dad carried to, and from, work each day, filled with papers, and lunch, in the '60s. Whenever I see it, I am reminded how he toiled to provide for us.
