Witness to a Felony - A Reader's Digest Version

Girl = One Gal's Trash
Guy = Twitchy But Polite Kid - approximate age 19

Girl and her pal Mary buy a few things from guy at a junk shop at the coast. Guy in a rush, said he lives somewhere else, but will be back at shop at a later date.

Girl gives guy her phone # so he can call her when he's back at the shop. Guy shows girl 2 vintage watches and asks if she knows anything about them. Girl says no, but tells him how to sell them on Ebay. Because girl is the most naive cynic you will ever meet.

Turns out the store is not officially open, stuff belongs to his grandma, and guy "lifted" the watches and some other jewelry.

Cops arrest guy in a different town for a different crime, somehow find girl's # (perhaps from guy?) and call to see if she has any of the stolen goods. (She doesn't.)

Girl offers to return items she purchased. Cop says it's not necessary; items were purchased in good faith, grandmother doesn't give a flying fig about some recipe books and cookie cutters.

Cop says girl may be getting a phone call from District Attorney to testify against kid. Girl not happy about this.

I'll keep you posted. As Mary says: "Who knew junking could be so dangerous?"

Hehehe. Cook books and cookie cutters. You big spender, you. That sounds like something I'd come out with. I bet they got a kick out of you offering to return them. Hope they don't call you to testify or anything. How annoying!

Hey Pam! That is totally something that would happen to me but I probably would've gotten great deals on stuff only to find out it WAS the stolen stuff! And I see that you're only 120 followers away from your goal. Woo hoo!!!!

I feel so sorry for his granny. It's bad enough getting robbed. But by her own grandson? As the wicked witch of the west said, " oh, what a world ! "
