What's in the Black Box?

I spotted this big wooden box under a table at a recent sale...

It was really heavy when I tried to move it. I thought that the case might be full of rifles or plutonium. Uh...no. Stencils. Hundreds of them. Letters in 2 sizes.

And Numbers. I numbers.

Let's spell something, shall we?

you know what they are - they are for putting the bible reading and hymn numbers on the little boards in a church for the service....
