How did my very first car end up in Portland?

I drove a 1978 Ford Mustang just like this one when I was 20ish. The car first belonged to my older sister, Karen. Later, when she bought a vintage black Mercedes, the Mustang got handed down to lucky me! Can't you just picture me driving onto the UC Irvine campus in this baby, when all the other California girls had chocolate brown convertible BMWs? Also, by the time it was mine, the blue paint had faded so badly, that the car looked like it was fashioned from naugahyde. It was a little like driving a big, ugly, blue couch down the Coast Highway.
P.S. Tell me about your first car!

Love the car. I had a 1969 Plymouth Satellite with paisley top & interior. You can be sure that I was the only one in town that had that car and also at school it was easy to find my car.

Oh those girls in their chocolate brown beemers! Aren't you glad you were an original - and still remain one today!!! I was the proud driver in 1980 of my parent's old mustard-colored Impala that had the biggest front end in the world! I can relate to your "couch" analogy, although I would have classified this as a boat...

Darlin', I would have killed for that car. I drove a Datsun 210. Yours would have been the equivalent of a BMW to me...

I drove a brand new 1973 Maverick that was canary yellow with a brown top. Light tan interior with an 8 Track my Dad installed. Bucket seats! It was groovy!

'66 'stang that you had to hold the right door closed when you turned a corner and a back seat that slid forward when the brakes were applied! My best friend drove a Belvedere (can you say dinosaur) with a huge hood scoop! Yeah...we knew how to turn heads!

Ha ha! This cracked me up so hard.

My first car was a 1976 Chevy Concours in diarrhea gold. It was basically a Nova, only supposedly the Councours was slightly nicer model of the Nova, though I couldn't tell the difference. To me, this car was a little like driving a big, ugly metal cockroach.

I got my first car in 1988, it was a '76 Olds Delta 88. Talk about huge! So many boat jokes...Hey, you got a docking permit for that boat?? Then one of my friends got a car everyone called the Batmobile, can't remember what it was, just that it took the jokes off of me :).

My first car was a 86 VW Cabriolet, a cute lil convertible. I was so in love with that car. When I put my first dent in it, I cried! Now my fav and current car is my 63' Dodge Dart wagon. I decided to go older instead of newer! Her name is Lucy and she has her own blog www.jumpstartmyheart.blogspot.com Great Post!

My first car was a two-toned brown 1967 Oldsmobile Cutlass. It had heat and a radio and I was in heaven. It belonged to a cute boy at school and after he blew up his new ride, I was his new best friend, lol!!! Cute blog!

My first car was a cream colored 1981 Ford Mustang with an 8-track and moon roof. I must say the 80's wasn't really the best decade for the mustang.
Love reading the first car stories. Thanks for posting.

Oh, I wanted a Mustang like yours, but after looking at several, my dad opted to buy me a 74 Pinto. It was sweet...actually had a Mustang engine, and a potentially exploding gas tank, to boot. I drove it for 12 years, until someone hit me and totaled it. Some years later, I finally got my Mustang, albeit, 87 and a smelly carburetor!
