While away the rainy hours...with a game and a book

One of my favorite finds in London was this charming Woodland Old Maid card game.

The characters have names like Betty Bun, Pinny Needlekin, Hetty Hoot and Wigwags Bobble...

Izaak Finny, Tabitha Tabbitail, Millicent Littlemouse and ~ my personal favorite, the demure and beautifully dressed ~ Bridgit Croak

I also found this wonderful book by H.A Rankin: Simple Lessons in Colour

Each lesson is 2 pages; first page of intruction begins with "To Paint a......" and a description of the desired color and object...

And on the facing page...a painting!

How sweet! What are you going to do with the cards--something crafty perhaps?

The artwork in the book looks so much more contemporary than the cover! The cards remind me of Australian animals. Fun!

I adore the cards. It reminds me of the wonderful things a friend of my Mother's use to send to us when we were children.
