Heaven...Nirvana...Benton County

I got to have a slumber party with my 7 week old friend Grace Kathleen the other night. We had such fun and stayed up way too late. Grace lives in a town about 2 hours from Portland. On the way home the next morning, I was looking for a gas station and spun my head around when I saw this:

The OSU Folk Club Thrift Store. Don't ask me what it means...I just know that it changed my life. Girls, it was the kind of place that has so much stuff, and it's so cheap, and you get so overwhelmed that you think you might have to leave. Lucky for all of us, I got over the panic, grabbed a cart and loaded it up. Twice. I couldn't even wait until I got home for the photo shoot. I started taking pictures in the parking lot. Here is some of the booty:

2 vintage Made in America duck decoys, wooden clothespins, vintage Easter bunny on an ATV(!), 3 packs of kid card games, 2 pairs of old pinking shears, various Frenchy sconces and a Charlie Tuna alarm clock dated 1972...

Black and white enamel swirl bowl, kids' storybook, Texas Ware nesting bowls, tiny lemon lime sugar and creamer, French dish & Paris playing cards, vintage jewelry and a harvest basket.

On my way out of town, I saw The Bag Ladies Thrift. Picked up 3 bags worth here too. It was the kind of place where you holler across the empty, cavernous store..."How much are the (vintage, cotton, floral) tablecloths?" And the guy hollers back "$1 each." And you break out in a sweat.

....Still trying to leave town, I drove past the Teen Challenge Thrift. What was I going to do?...Not stop? Please. These fellas helped me load the car until there was no room left. When I asked if I could take their picture, the guy on the left was happy to play along. The guy on the right thought I was nuts.

More photos of the stash on my next post...

That's it. I'm going to get in the car, drive for two hours, and thrift my way back! It worked for you, maybe it will work for me too. How exciting to check out fresh junk!

Congrats on your great finds! I'm with "The Boston Lady" as I'm a preschooler when it comes to thrifting as well.

I LOVE the way you describe walking into a treasure chest of a junk store. I know exactly what you mean and love that someone else knows those feelings too!
