This is my mom, Sallie, having lunch al fresco in California a few weeks ago.
In the 1960's, Mom was quite a seamstress. (How she had time to sew with 4 kids, I will never understand.) She made felt stockings for all of us. Every Christmas Eve, she stuffed them full of peppermints, toys, See's chocolates and small treasures. Then she gave Santa all the credit. My stocking hangs from our mantel every December.
When my angel started losing her hair, Mom glued some white yarn on her head and called it good.
A teddy bear in white tie!
Inspired by Mom, I made felt stocking for my kids too. I'll show you those next week.

I love those old felt stockings, your mom was very talented.
Happy holidays,

That stocking is so sweet! Can't wait to see the ones you made as well.
Pam,
What a beautiful memory and treasure you have in your stocking. I'm amazed by your saying she found time to sew...four kids would be a full time job!

P.S. When I start losing my hair, do you think you're mom could come by and glue some white yarn on me? I'd call it good, too!
Very sweet! Your mother looks like a dear!!
Happy day!

Pam, that is so so sweet!
It's nice that you still have your old stocking. I wish I had mine.
This stocking is adorable...nothing like a little patch and the angel looks good as true. Happy VTT!
What a lovely stocking!
Your stockings are much more ornate than those I made for my boys in the early 70's, very sweet.
Your mom looks awesome! She's an honorary member of my blog, "I'm Not Old, I'm Vintage" for sure!!!! I still have my stocking, too. Sadly, though, this will be our first Christmas without Mom.
Your mother is adorable, what a sweetheart! Is she the one that you get all your spunk and great sense of humor from?
How lucky you are to still have her and your stocking.
What a treasure...the stocking and your mom.
