So, in order to avoid rush hour traffic the other day, I drove down a street off my usual route. I'm doing about 50, singing Feliz Navidad at the top of my lungs, when I spy a pile of wonderful junk by the side of the road. SCREEEECH! go my brakes. Just as I'm about to jump out of the car to investigate further, a guy sitting in a parked black truck across the street rolls down his window and says: "Did you have a question about that house?" I say: "Well, sort of. Are those things on the curb free to a good home?" He says: "Yeah, we're renovating, that's some stuff we don't want...Take it all!"
So I took some of the clay pots, the metal urn (chipped, but I don't care) and the pretty white lady. She's not old (bar code on the bottom was my first clue), not concrete, not resin. She's heavy and lovely and just needs a little TLC. She looked very sad to have been thrown over. See?
But this piece was my favorite. A fabulously beat-up concrete line of ladies dancing. Why anyone would leave this on the side of the road is just incomprehensible to me.
I love concrete. I love dancing ladies. I love the guy in the black truck.

Haha! Feeling the love, are you? Great finds.
You are too funny, but one man's [in a black truck] junk you know..........
Lucky choice of route! The concrete ladies are really pretty.
I love all of it and I especially love free stuff on the side of the road:) NOT junk, good stuff... you are one lucky lady!!!!!!
Hi there, you were so lucky, nothing that exciting ever happens to me. I think the ladies are beautiful also.

I'm surprised you didn't jump in the black truck with him! I thought Santa's sleigh was red?
Lord have mercy, now that was a find! I think I woulda taken every last one of those. I hate seeing usable stuff just end up in a landful, but even worse is seeing useable and beautiful stuff go the same route. Then again all of that would never have fit in the car. lol I am sooo happy you rescued the dancing ladies, they are stunning.
What a haul! You are SUCH a recycler!!!
Hi Pam, I'm Diane--new to blogland, and I'm having fun finding all these fun blogs--your's being one of them. I am a 'garage sale lady' also :) In the summer (very, very cold here right now) that's my favorite Sat.morning pasttime!
Oh my gosh! You lucky gal! We sure can put some wear and tear on our brakes for those treasures cast off by the road. Thanks for sharing and Happy Holidays!
Living it up at Lakewood,

Ah, the junk gods were with you!!!! xo Joan
Lucky girl, lucky girl, you are a lucky girl. I would have done the same...good finds, and you will enjoy them, and they won't be in the trash truck to cause more landfills..
good for you, you rock..
happy day,

I am so glad you have good brakes! I love all your finds but yes, the line of ladies dancing is so wonderful....you are a good spotter of roadside treasures!
Great yard art finds! The concrete dancing ladies are really wonderful!
Their loss...your gain :)
You never know what you will find along the way, especially if it is trash day. These things turn out to be a nice throw away for you.
Love the dancing ladies...what a lucky route you took. Great finds..
Lucky ducky!!
Someone is looking out for you and you have a special angel on your shoulder or you have been chosen to bring the world news that the once loved now tossed away things in this live can find love again and can no matter how old find new usefulness and be admired once again. For this we thank you immensely. Happy Holidays and Best wishes for you, your family and your angel.
Holy Toledo! I know I would have stopped. The dancing ladies are FABULous! And that lady can make a great patio addition. There is a product called Paverpol that can be used with fabric & then drapped over an object. When it dries it is hard as rock & can endure outside temps. I'd do that with the white lady to "fancy" her up.

You definitely need to veer off the beaten path more often! Did you hurt yourself wrestling that gal into the car? She looks quite heavy. And I cannot wait to see where you're going to put the dancing ladies. Pleeeease tell me that you're keeping them!!
You got some great junk, lady! Good for you.
Cheers,
Jo
