Imagine my delight when I saw these cans on the shelf at our grocery store in Portland, Oregon. Spotted Dick is a sort of British bread-pudding-with-currents thing. But in a can? And the name? I don't think so.
On second thought, I think I'll bring a couple of cans to my friend's upcoming 40th birthday knitting party and see how it goes over with the ladies. I'll keep you posted.

Naughty.....but how fun!!! Wish we could see their faces when those are revealed.....
I've heard of this.
But it had nothing to do with British bread pudding.

I googled this and apparently it's Britain's favourite (notice spelling, tut tut and all that) pudding: http://urbanlegends.about.com/od/fooddrink/a/spotted_dick.htm -- I think you should buy a can and serve the stuff to your knitters and THEN show them the label. Hee hee hee.
This is too funny! I am going to a bridal shower and will definitely look for this to place in the wishing well.
That's too funny! I'm going to have to check out the grocery store for this... Maggie

I, too, found Spotted Dick at my local grocery store...and I cooked it and ate it.
It was a rather dry bread pudding.
My son refused to eat a single bite!
