I posted about him here. Well, out of the blue, I received an email from a gal named Marilyn. Here's what it said:
Googling for fun - Williams Potato Chips....there you were talking about my family's company. The Billy that you are in love with is my brother who was featured in the ads in about 1950. The original bags actually had a photograph of him rather than a drawing. Thought you might like to see a couple more memorable pictures.
Then it got even better...Billy sent me a recent photo and a message! He wrote:
Thought you might be interested to see what the ravages of time and Jack Daniels can do.
So, if ingesting massive amounts of potato chips leads to owning a sweet motor boat and looking exactly like Sean Connery, I say...Go ahead, eat the chips!

Who knows what will turn up when you combine the internet and vintage finds. What a great story!
XO...XO
Will/Bill/Billy
I love the power of the internet. There you are with the William of your dreams. Also, as an update. The Oscar Mayer who just died in Wisconsin was the Grandson of the original Oscar Mayer! Just another interesting product fun fact. Love the poem by the way.
What if I already look like Sean Connery?
How fun is that?!!! Wow, do you think Johnny or Harry will google and find me? Lord knows I mention them enough!
Who'd a thought it?
Debbie
This is too funny!
What a cool story! And the pics, too! Amazing what you can discover via the Internet! Thanks for sharing *elaine*
LOVE THIS POST! What a neat comment to get from Marilyn. I love the photo with the chip bag and the chef hat...
Then to have Billy send you a picture...what fun....love the stories people share. She didn't give you any pointers on those potato chip cookies did she?
How cool is that!! I think I'll go eat some chips now to celebrate your update!!
The internet is fab-u-lous! Bring on the chips!
I have a bottle of soda with my name on it. I blogged about it and heard from the owner of the soda factory. It was made until 1955. My name is unusual, so to find anything with my name on it was cool. But, to hear from the owner of the company was way cool!
I wish I could EAT some Billy Chips!!!
This story is great :+D
No wait.....Billy Chips AND spotted dick! What a combo!
I know I've said it before....But I freeeeekin' love your blog!!!! Only you can make this happen :)
Oh Pam,
I adore you more and more with each post. This one was great.

Lisa
