A Bitter Biddy

My pals, Gail and Beth, and I were in line at an estate sale this morning. We were in fine form....gabbing and cackling while we waited in the cold with the foul vultures ~ ahem ~ dealers. This humorless dame was ahead of us and we were apparently getting under her skin with all that laughter and happiness. As she was about to be let in the door of the house, she turned her head in our direction and shouted, "QUIET!!!!!!" which basically made us cackle even louder. When we got into the sale I had my camera in hand, but I didn't see her. Just our luck! She showed up at the next sale...I grabbed my camera and pretended to be shooting the light fixture above her head. See the pinched expression on her face?...The deep wrinkles from years of tobacco abuse?...The defensive crossing of her arms? She is definitely NOT my new best friend. We did see some great stuff on our adventure though, I'll tell you about that in my next post.

Hey, since you are an estate sale professional, maybe you can answer this question on estate sale etiquette: when you have JUST jammed yourself into a teeny weeny kitchen pantry and are about to peruse all the sugars, creamers and stuff, is it ok for someone to come up behind you and ask you to move so they can get a peek? Being a nice person, I moved, but worried for the next 10 seconds that she was going to actually grab something. Thanks, Kate

As a vulture, I take exception to your description. But I'd be cackling along with you. Biddies ruin everything

Leave it to you and Gail to have a run into such a nice woman! (maybe it is that weird piano Stink eye lady kharma that is following you about!) Would have loved to run into you guys and cackle with you as well!

isn't that just sad... because you can make anyone laugh... let's just say, she got up on the wrong side of the bed... :(

I'm usually too focused at sales to get caught up in the "drama" of the surroundings.
I'm a real busy bee at these things....!
I find if you are nice.... people are nice right back at cha!
This old broad looks like she needs some laxative yogurt.

So, missy.. Tell me the difference between a "vulture" and an avid garage/estate sale junkie with a mall space, huh???

Hugs from Seattle,
A

PS I want to come home!!!
