Happy Halloween!

"Mom, are you actually watching the World Series?"

Okay. I don't like baseball. I am not what you would call a sporty girl. I hate Philadelphia, the most provincial, mean-spirited city in the lower 48. (Sorry to offend, but it's my story and I'm stickin' to it.) And men who wear necklaces? Uh, no.

But Cliff Lee, the pitcher for the Phillies, is HOT.

Vintage Plastic is Fantastic

I never pass up bags full of random plastic goodies at estate sales. The bags usually put me back about a dime and can hold treasures like these...

Birthday cake zoo train

Pink birdies and green floral candle holders

A teeny pair of wingtips

Valentine cupcake picks

Baby supplies

My all time favorite: Umbrellas for garden fairies

P.S. If you are a gardener, check out my Garden Gal blog for tips on how to put your garden to sleep for the winter.

Is it a sea creature or a light?

I saw this amazing object recently in a room where my son was taking an art class...

The closer I got to it,

The more beautiful it became!

Brilliantly created from one gal's (or guy's) trash!

I invite you to join in our vintage trash and treasure adventure! Become a member of One Gal's Trashy Pals over there on the sidebar...

What time is it?

So, the other day I'm at my new favorite junking spot and I hear the unmistakable sound of a cartload of fresh junk being wheeled in. You junkers know exactly what I'm talking about, dontcha? I turned just in time to see this collection of vintage Big Ben clocks rolling by. I grabbed them so fast, I think the poor man pushing the cart was terrified. My personal favorite? The black one. Which one do you like best?
P.S. They all work!

HOPE

This is a newly released photo of the First Family by Annie Leibovitz.

Wow! On some days, I am proud to be an American. This is one of those days. Beautiful, smart, accomplished, and doing the right thing with courage and integrity. Because, sometimes, doing the right thing is the only thing to do.

Something Sweet

Have you ever had a day when things just weren't going well? From the time you woke up, the day felt....sad, bleak, wrong?

And then did you unexpectedly find a box like this on your doorstep? And was there a little soft pink cookie inside? And were you so lucky to have a friend like Beth?

Yes.

Shop 'til you drop!

Hey Girls!
After a summer hiatus, my Etsy shop is filling up with fabulous goodies...go have a gander on my sidebar over there

Chez Pre-Fab...a Fable

Once upon a time, we had a hut in Rockaway Beach.

One sunny day in July, we moved out our stuff...

and burned it to the ground.

Then we had an empty lot for awhile.

Some people came, and brought us a new house..

Next, our friend Eric made beautiful floors for us.

And now, our friend Chris is putting up cedar shingles all over the house!

See Chris work.

Go, Chris, go!

We like Chris.

Dahlias in late October

It's now October 20th and this is what's happening outside our dining room window...These gorgeous blooms are thriving in my "adopted" garden.

My friend Mary says that a better name for it is the "mercy" garden. I think she's right. Anything still blooming in your neck of the woods? Please advise!

We scared up some vintage goodies for All Hallow's Eve...

That Wallpaper Smells Fishy....

This is my friend Will from Rita Deco. (I think he was feeling shy today.) I stopped by to see him, and to my delight, he had a gift for me...a ginormous roll of amazing vintage fishy wallpaper.

He gave me strict instructions to do something fabulous with it.

Uh...O.K.!

So it is destined for Chez Pre-Fab of course!

Here are a few vignettes from Will's shop, Rita Deco, at 1925 N.E. 42nd Street ~ in Portland's Hollywood District.

Stop by and say Howdy! And tell 'em One Gal's Trash sent ya....
